All of my producing dreams came true on this job. I was currently full time at Hecho Studios, when we were asked to do a favor for a long time client. It was a personal project of his, and he had secured Will Ferrell and Joel McHale. There was little to no budget, roughly less than 20K, which is next to impossible to do anything with. I immediately said “YES! we can pull this off. and I am producing this.”
I had about 72 hours… crap. I quickly enlisted the help of my long time friends, and talented DP’s Christopher Velona and Evan Norton, and we were off. The hammer museum kindly let us scout the place immediately, shout out to curator Mitch Marr for being a wonderful host. I reeled in sound, makeup/wardrobe to support, rented gear, finalized the celebrities schedules, and the shoot day was upon us. It went too fast… but I enjoyed every moment of it. Will and Joel refused any direction or suggestions, just riffing on whatever they saw in front of them. My face hurt from laughter. I rarely get weird with celebrities, but on this day, it was inevitable.
